I have a kick scooter and I want to modify it to be both manual and electric.

I have this scooter and I want to modify it so that it can be both a kick scooter and an electric scooter. I thought it would be best to ask and get some suggestion as to parts that would be necessary. I have a small budget so economics is important.

That looks like a fun project. One idea that I have is to lace a new hub that is threaded on one side to the rear wheel and then install a gear motor such as our MOT-24250G or MOT-24450G along with a freewheel sprocket that threads onto the new rear wheel hub. This setup will allow the scooter to freewheel and be used without the motors power, and will allow the motor to power the scooter when desired.

The weight of the battery pack should be kept low on the scooter for proper handling so I would place it above or below the scooter's footplate.
