My daughter was on her electric scooter when all of a sudden it continued to run when she let go of the throttle, any ideas?

The first thing I would check for is a sticking throttle, sometimes the handlebar grip with push in against the throttle and it will stay remain at the full throttle position after it is released. If the throttle is returning back to its resting position after being let go of then it is an electrical problem usually with the controller or throttle.
To determine whether it is the throttle or controller simply unplug the throttle from the controller and turn the scooter on. If the motor still spins at full throttle with the throttle unplugged then it is the controller, and if the motor stops running at full speed with the throttle disconnected then it is the throttle.
