Is my sprocket the right size for my axle

Hi there I have a old go kart that Im trying to revive. Im going to get the 24v 500W electric motor kit however, my only concern is that the sprocket may not fit my axel. the axel's diameter measured at 25mm. Please help

If you are looking at buying the 24 Volt 500 Watt go-kart kit item # KIT-24500-03 then the sprocket included with it has a 54mm ID which will clear the 25mm axle. The easiest way to install the kit's sprocket is to center and bolt it onto the go-karts existing sprocket if it has one and it has a smaller diameter than the kit's sprocket. The outside diameter of the kit's sprocket is 6-1/2" (165mm).

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you for the response, my only issue is that the sprocket that is on the kart right now doesn't have a 4 bolt mounting system, it has 6. How would we bolt the sprocket that is in the kit which has a four bolt mounting system.

second question,is the 500W motor only compatible with a #25 chain, we have a #35 chain at the moment and if the motor was compatible, could we just use what we have.

One more thing, we are doing this for a school project and before we get any funding, we're required to have a voice discussion with any vendor we contract with to verify our plans and materials. is there a good contact phone number for a live person?

Thank you for your help. To clarify my above email -- we would like to stay with the #35 chain - can we get a sprocket for the motor that will work with #35 so that we can use the exiting chain and axel sprocket?

In that case we wouldn't need the sprocket or chain in your kit and so you could keep those but charge us the same anyway.

The new sprocket may be able to bolt onto the existing sprocket if the existing sprocket is smaller than the new one. Or an adapter could be made.

For the 500 Watt motor, we currently have sprockets for #25 and 8mm chain. We are having a batch of sprockets for #35 chain made and expect to have them available in a couple of months.

were looking to buy this motor

https://cart.electricscooterparts.com/productdetails_popup.asp?productcode=MOT-24500X2500B

and were wondering if this 10 Tooth 3/8" Bore Sprocket for #35 Chain  would fit on to the shaft

http://www.electricscooterparts.com/sprockets35chain.html

That 10 tooth 3/8" bore sprocket for #35 chain will not fit on the MOT-24500X2500B motor.

We recently ordered and will have 10 tooth sprockets that fit the MOT-24500X2500B motor in stock soon though. They are our item # is SPR-3510D. Here is a link to them where you can sign up for a back-in-stock notification to be informed when we get them in stock: https://cart.electricscooterparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SPR-3510D

Please let us know if you have any questions.

what about the 10 tooth 1/2" bore sprocket for the 35# chain would that fit on the MOT-24500X2500B motor.

MY second question is what is the width of the motor shaft

The motor shaft has a 12mm diameter behind where the sprocket is mounted. Where the sprocket is mounted the shaft has a 10mm diameter and either one or two flat spots for a D or double D bore sprocket.

12mm is smaller than 1/2" so a 1/2" bore sprocket would fit loosely on a 12mm diameter shaft. A sprocket with 3/8" diameter such as our item # SPR-3510A could be drilled out to 12mm so it would fit the 12mm shaft behind where the original sprocket is mounted. Several of our customers have done this before with great results.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

I have great news. We now have a 10 tooth sprocket for #35 chain that fits the MOT-24500X2500B motor along with all other MY1020 and ZY1020 motors.

The item number for this sprocket is SPR-3510 and it is available on our #35 Chain Sprockets page.

Here is a photograph of SPR-3510.
